Friday, August 30, 2013 :: Love Your V With Lactacyd
I never thought I will write a post about something so personal to my body but I thought it is educational to share a topic which some may shun away from because of social stigma and embarrassment. I do not find it embarrassing to talk about it in public and I find it is good knowledge to share with people I love around me.
I have been a loyal user of Lactacyd for a year now under a doctor’s recommendation when I was plagued with something known as candida yeast infection at a period of time.
It was the combination of stress, hormonal changes and my constant dose of antibiotics which resulted in a change of fauna balance in my vaginal area causing the dreaded yeast infection. I have been falling sick pretty often but just that I do not tweet or announce it out to the whole world everytime I feel under the weather. You know the thing about feeling even worse psychologically when people start showering concern over you. Ah yes, this is proven which is why I prefer to keep it hush-hush until the need now to drive home an educational message.
Coming back to the V-topic and further proof of why I took up this initiative to drive awareness, I went to dig up my PAP smear test which I have done 3 months back and you see my results below :( I was further diagnosed as having too much stress resulting in hormonal change which resulted in recurring yeast infection and of course, to stop taking antibiotics.
However, do not take this matter lightly (if you are not under stress or under the course of antiobiotics) as yeast infection or any infections of that matter can easily happen to just about any women; like how many of my close friends are experiencing the same issue as well. It is not a matter of hygiene but more of maintaining healthy and acceptable pH levels in your V-zone.
Although most women are aware of feminine hygiene care, the importance of proactive usage is often overlooked. Feminine washes not only AID IN THE PREVENTION OF INFECTIONS, but it is an integral part in one’s beauty regime.
WHICH IS WHY, I WAS EAGER TO TAKE UP THIS EDUCATIONAL POST TO SHARE MY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE TO ALL MY FEMALE READERS.
A little background on Lactacyd products which I have trusted and have been using ever since my doctor recommended me to use feminine washes with the purpose of bringing back the pH levels of my vaginal area after my first episode with yeast infection.
Lactacyd is made from natural ingredients like Lactic acid and Lactoserum which is dermatologically safe and suitable for sensitive skin. It is highly prescribed by doctors worldwide and clinically proven to provide delicate care as well as protection from odour and irritation with everyday cleansing.
Lactacyd has 4 variants of feminine washes from left to right, namely, Nourish, Revitalize, White Intimate and pH3.5.
Lactacyd Revitalize which is proven to be effective in skin firming and moisturizing. I love products which contains Vitamin E and Revitalize contains Vit E on top of collagen! If you do not know by now, Vit E has antioxidant qualities and helps to destroy free radicals. Not to mention, it is good for sensitive skin as well.
I loveeeeeee that Revitalize contains a long lasting deodorant moisturizer with moisture-retaining capacity and best of all, it is made with natural ingredients so it is absolutely gentle and loving to your V area!
I guess the above photo is explanatory? ;)Lactacyd believes that every inch of the female body deserves the best care in order to be fair and flawless, especially the intimate area. So this product is suited for women who want a product that can hydrate and also lighten the skin coloration of the V-area. Needless to say, all ingredients are 100% natural.
Lactacyd Nourish.More nourishing and moisturizing for the V-zone with 10% more milk extract.
This variant known as pH3.5 is my favourite next to Revitalize. This is also the one recommended by my doctor. It is pro-balance for elevated pH days such as during menstruation and hormonal changes. Really love this product and have been hoarding up those discount packages from departmental stores! In fact, the photo I posted up with a V-sign on my Instagram was purchased during a package discount at Watsons, heh! ;)
I am not going to lie but I did not know these daily feminine wipes exist! With recurring yeast infection and on the doctor’s advice for the need to balance my pH levels at my V area on a regular basis, this daily feminine wipes is definitely going into my purse from now on!
I strongly urge you to view Lactacyd’s website HERE where they have this sweet, engaging and entertaining little ebisodes (web videos) which debunk common myths and misconception about feminine hygiene. Didn’t think it would be so cute but it is and it got my attention! :)
Remember to visit them at this link HERE and you can ask questions to the friendly specialists (for questions you are always too embarrassed to bring up or just about anything under the sun!), watch more interesting ebisodes and be their VIP to receive free samples ;)
*Last of all, join me on @vaingloriousyou for an Instagram contest and stand a chance to win free Lactacyd products!1) Simply post a photo of yourself with a V-sign (it’s okay to post without the products)

Wednesday, August 21, 2013 :: Elle x Canon Beauty Journal Event
August gotten off to a really good start with numerous events where new bonds are forged and friends are made :*) Something that I have been extremely thankful of. Used to be an awkward wallflower at events because I am more afraid of you than you are of me haha. But no more of that! Finally opening up my heart welcoming more friends and people into my life and it has been such a joy.. :*)
2 weeks ago, I was offered the opportunity to attend the Elle x Canon event with Evonne and Eve (many thanks to Evonne!) and although I didn’t think that I have the talent in art (ahem), I thought it was fun to attend the event to make a scrapbook card for Yina whose birthday falls on the same day. And also, I was having something in mind for my dear readers as a giveaway this year end on my last blog post of the year so this was really a good opportunity for me to pick something up!
The scrapbook on the top was the big winner of the night! The lovely lady walked away with a huge Canon Pixma printer which I am contemplating to get!
Sharifah (on the right) and her sister!Sharifah was my classmate in primary school and we reunited in the same degree in our uni days! :*)(Still thankful you helped me pass my strategic management module!)
Thank you all for coming up to take photos with me for keepsake! :*)Last one with Evonne before she ran off to get her hair done (for Yina’s big night!) while I headed off to a meeting with my beloved partner!
*
Turned up at Switch with Serene and Evonne for Yina’s proposal after a lonnggggg day and we were all extremely tired by then. Look at em’ dark circles. Anyone having the same problem with dark circles after hours of wearing contacts?
If you have not read Yina’s blog on her proposal, you should because the proposal was PLANNED ON THAT VERY MORNING in a whatsapp chat group I was in –.-! Yina posted up excerpts from the chat group on her blog so feel free to check it out but please…do not think of me as a bimbo ok. Who plans a proposal and execute it IN A DAY!? Hahaha, the thought of it…….-.-
With Serene and Evonne :*)If you do not know by now, Serene is my other half of Vainpot Boutique. We have such good rapport teehee ;)
VAINPOT (the super cliche hair-raising name) came about from VAINgloriousyou and momoteaPOTs. I remember 3-4 years ago we were sitting around at Ikea brainstorming for a name for our new shop at 34 Haji Lane and I promise you, we came up with so many ridiculous names it gave us goosebumps.Especially that hair-raising moment when I said “how about Vainpot?”. Until now, we always make jokes about our boutique’s name and how its so “TRICIA ONG” to think of such a ridiculous name haha. But really, it is a really meaningful name isn’t it??
With the extremely happy girl who is still talking about her proposal 2 weeks later. Happy right? Happy then show it through your tears! ;)

Thursday, August 15, 2013 :: New Kid On The Block – Graceous Japanese Salon
Discovered a new kid on the block and a hidden gem through beauty guru Evonne and it is non other than an authentic Japanese salon opened by a handsome Japanese couple who hails from Hokkaido and Osaka! Phew, that was a mouthful but they definitely deserve this blogpost I am dedicating to them because of their friendliness, impeccable service and the commendable technique of creating beautiful eyelash extension which requires alot of time and effort and I would say, with a dash of love.
I have received SO MANY COMPLIMENTS for my eyelashes and many like my friends, suppliers and even EVONNE herself thought it is my own natural eyelashes. I did not appreciate the beauty of my new eyelash extensions until it became a conversation starter at events when many praised I am born with pretty eyelashes. I have since been actively promoting the salon and their services because I am a true believer :)
Before I begin introducing GRACEOUS, let me start by saying I have tried eyelash extension elsewhere in Singapore and Taiwan but there are always issues such as:- My eyes feeling the sting from the glue- The overpowering smell of the glue during the procedure which gets pretty unbearable I can start whizzing- The discomfort from the stiff eyelash extension when I sleep, wash my face, bathe etc- Feeling the horrible weight of the eyelashes due to the lousy quality
But of course, I try to live with it and thought this is the trade-off for beauty until I visited Graceous. I was pleasantly surprised that eyelash extension can be so comfortable and enjoyable when done with the right technique and with quality lashes. Most importantly, I do not face any of the problems above.
Graceous is a true blue Japanese salon opened by a loving couple who hopes to bring the beauty of eyelash extension in Japan to Singapore. The cosy little salon is unpretentious, extremely cosy and nothing like what you will see in Singapore beauty salons. Graceous came about from the words “Grace” and “Gorgeous”. In this year of 2013, I have a newfound interest and understanding in the concept “Grace” and its underlying meaning - Something which I am keeping to write about in my last post of year 2013 :)
Chose the C-Curl in 13mm. I was actually concerned with choosing the length because it may be too long when I wear my glasses. But my worries are unfounded! The softness of the lashes are like real natural lashes and the technique Nao used to delicately attach the eyelash one by one does not cause discomfort when I wear my glasses.
The very pretty and gentle Nao :)
A comfortable couch for your waiting companion! ;)
I really love the entire procedure because it was done with so much patience by painstakingly sticking ONE single eyelash at a time. This is the reason why my eyelash extension looks so natural and light-weighted. It has been on me for 3 weeks now and it is so comfortable and does not add on unnecessary weight on my eyes unlike my previous extensions. So thankful to Evonne for this recommendation :*) Will definitely be sticking with Graceous for a lonnnnngggg time!
And Nao gave me exactly what I wanted!
The handsome, friendly and extremely soft-spoken Japanese couple, Nao and Tomoki. Something to note, they are only able to speak in English so please be patient with them! :)
Graceous is located just on top of Chikuwa Tei Japanese Restaurant. They are closed on first and third Monday of the month and also every Tuesday.
Thank you for the gorgeous eyelashes, Tomoki and Nao! :*)My friend Yina has just done hers at Graceous yesterday because we all can’t stop raving about this place! So stay tuned to her blog post or instagram for more photos! ;)
