Wednesday, February 20, 2013 :: Pre-CNY Hair Color By Salon Vim

Booked in advance for my slot on 23 January with dear John to do my hair for CNY. It was pretty hard to get an appointment with him during that period of time and I am glad this time round I booked earlier! Wanted to get another slot in February to do a treatment just before CNY but it was too late by the time I asked for an appointment :(

Nonetheless, under John’s recommendation, I went for a daring color transformation this time round with forest greens. It is such a gorgeous color I turned heads everytime I’m out! Saw an advert in Orchard that reads “If they are going to stare, make their time worthwhile”. How apt! Did I make your time worthwhile? Hee.

A before and after photo!

The little one tagged along and sat with me throughout the 4 hours.

Everyone in the salon was in awe with the results! I love how rich the forest green looked and the way it compliments the base browns.

The friendly and good people of Salon Vim :*) Thank you for making every visit a pleasant one for me!

Although my entire head was bleached to remove the reds (previous color), the Redken treatment fortified my hair with proteins and prevent breakages. The end result definitely do not look like my hair has been bleached because the condition is absolutely silky, smooth and most importantly, do not lack of lustre.

Tintin and Mary (John’s assistant on my hair for the day).
Tintin was getting the most attention in the salon haha. Look at her face! She is smiling!

I have absolutely no qualms with tying up my hair messily if my hair color is pretty. There’s beauty in a messy bun as well ;)
Haha, actually I have very very little hair. So putting up a messy bun would make my hair look thicker!

Heading off to Japan this weekend and I really can't wait! :*)
Have a lovely week, gorgeous people!

Friday, February 15, 2013 :: Kiehl’s Media Event

IMG_7581_thumb[3]

I was extremely elated to be invited to Kiehl’s media event on their star products that I made time amidst my crazy Jan schedule to attend although I turned up pretty late for it! :/

The midnight recovery concentrate is pretty amazing albeit being a wee bit oily for me. I am starting to fall in love with products with essential oils as the efficacy of such products are amazing. Oils are able to penetrate even deeper into the skin epidermis layers compared to creams. Upon using this product overnight, the oil production on my face is well-controlled for the next day and is not as oily as it would be by the end of the day. It also brightens up my face as though I look thoroughly rested (although I had only 3 hours of sleep).

The midnight recovery eye cream is pretty good as well and the lines under my eyes have reduced after using this for 2 weeks now. The cream also absorbs quickly into my eye area without being oily or sticky.

We get to try out other products as well and the skin brightening exfoliator is worth giving it a try. It is gentle enough to be used daily!

On a side note, thank you for the overwhelming response to Laura Lace Playsuit (the one I am wearing in the photos)!
It is such a pretty piece worth keeping for events, dinners and special days when you feel like wearing something luxe!
If only this playsuit had pants instead of shorts, I will definitely bring this effortlessly stunning outfit to Japan! Japan is extremely cold now and I look forward to be wrapped in layers haha, NOT. I am so afraid of cold weathers I don’t know how I will survive staying out the entire day, geez.

Lastly although this came abit late but still, Happy Valentine’s Day to all! May your days from now on be filled with abundance of love! :)

With Love,
Tricia

Monday, February 11, 2013 :: Salon Vim @ Bugis Victoria Street

I was choosing amongst a few events which I want to blog about and decided on this for Salon Vim as 2013 is a year to be thankful for. I would like to start the year by being thankful and appreciative to the wonderful things that I have been bestowed with that has changed my life in a way or so. I am extremely thankful to Salon Vim for offering sponsorship of my hair and of course, this magical place where I met the love of my life. I share their immense joy in opening a second outlet (a huge one to boot!) at Bugis Victoria Street – that iconic busstop at the entrance of Bugis Street is where they are. On the day of their grand opening, this day was made even more special as it was my birthday!

It is an extremely cosy place with the same friendly atmosphere as the outlet at Somerset 313!

A spacious 2nd level to house more customers on festive occasions! This space is much needed!
Have you seen how packed Salon Vim @ Somerset 313 was during the recent CNY period? It was crazy!

So I headed down to the new outlet on this significant day to do my favourite Redken treatment. My tresses are extremely important to me and my mood greatly depend on the condition and look of my hair.

I absolutely love how soft and luscious my mane looks after the treatment. I have also learnt from John that Redken treatment is effective as it strengthens and maintains the pH level of your hair. It is a custom treatment where you can request a cocktail mix to achieve your desired end result (for eg, softer hair or stronger hair). It is good to understand what GOES into your treatment mixture as some salons offer treatments that only ADDS coating to your hair to make it look extremely soft when you walk out of the salon. That is why the price can go as low as $20+ $30+. However, that coating will come off at the first couple washes. In contrast, Redken treatment is an extremely good treatment I would say as it contains protein that works hard to build and strengthen your hair. I swear by this treatment and request for it at every visit! Sigh, technical details or understanding things at a molecular level always interest me as I was a science student in the past! Geez what a nerd!

Thank you for making me look my best on my special day! :*)
PS: Also for taking half a day off to celebrate my birthday with me! <3
